Gio Ponti was one of the most influential innovators in design and architecture of the 20th century. Born in Milan in 1891, he graduated in architecture at Milan Polytechnic in 1921 and began his professional career by associating with other Milanese architects. After considerable experience in ceramic manufacturing, he founded 'Domus' in 1928, still one of the most important and influential architecture magazines worldwide. From 1936 he was a professor at the Architecture Faculty of the Milan Polytechnic until his death in 1961.
