Sambonet Gio Ponti – Centrepiece and Bowls, Home Decor
The Gio Ponti collection reinterprets in stainless steel a design that remained unpublished until 2013, when Sambonet brought it into production. The two joined bowls define the character of both the centrepiece and the miniature.
Design and identity
The design carries the signature of Gio Ponti, unpublished until 2013, when Sambonet put it into production. It reflects the mature phase of the architect's work, between architectural rationalism and his theory that everyday habits shape the form of objects. The two footed bowls, joined, form a near-spherical volume based on balance and symmetry; separated, they work as independent containers — a use Ponti himself envisioned beyond the piece's original function.
Materials and finishes
Both formats are made of stainless steel and share the same range of finishes: mirror steel, silver-plated steel, and PVD in 2Black, Champagne, Gold and Rum. The centrepiece alone is also available with a 24-carat gold-plated finish.
Formats, uses and occasions
In the larger size (Ø 24 cm), the centrepiece works as a standalone decor piece or as a base for table displays of fruit and flowers. In the miniature size (Ø 11 cm), the same design principle lends itself to different uses: a decor piece for small spaces, a wedding gift, or a single serving within an elaborate table setting.
