MELAMINE - Do use soft sponges when you clean your melamine dishes by hand. Avoid the use of harsh chemicals such as chlorine based detergents or bleach and the use of harsh or abrasive scouring products. Don’t use abrasive cleaning tools like steel wool on melamine, because they can scratch and cause wear. Don’t use serrated knives or other sharp utensils, because they can scratch and nick the surface of the plate. Melamine is not a suitable cutting surface. Melamine is suitable for hot and cold food use. Melamine is suitable for food storage at ambient or chilled temperatures for up to 24 hours. Do not use melamine in ovens or microwaves. Melamine is not suitable for hot counters, displays, or heated cabinets. Do not expose melamine to direct flame or heat, including heat lamps and plate warmers. It is not recommended for boiling foods and drinks as well as for frying and cooking. Temperature rating is between -20°C and 70°C (-4°F +158°F). Immediately remove chipped or damaged melamine from use. Do put melamine plates in your dishwasher if you want - they’re dishwasher-safe. Melamine should be washed only in the top rack of a high-temperature dishwasher. However, be aware that the dishwasher can fade your dinnerware’s colors somewhat.
