PRECIOUS AESTHETICS

Timeless beauty of silver

The objects shine with an exceptional and long-lasting mirror effect, on the tables and in the most refined locations. Silver adds a touch of warmth typical of this noble metal, making the table unique and full of personality.

Sambonet's exclusive silverplating technology

In 1938 Sambonet developed the exclusive H§P Hard Sambonet Silverplating technique, thus becoming one of the first Italian companies to get sophisticated technologies for silverplating stainless steel.

This technique includes an electroplating cycle and a subsequent polishing, carried out by highly qualified specialists. Cutlery, table accessories and furnishing accessories in AISI 304 stainless steel or in Alpacca, an alloy consisting of 66% copper, 13% nickel and 21% zinc, are embellished with 99.9% pure silver, acquiring great hardness and resistance to oxidation.

Sambonet silverplating is a registered know-how, N. 114374.

CARE FOR YOUR GUEST

Hygienic and antibacterial properties of silver

In addition to the elegant and refined aesthetics, silver allows you to enjoy some and hygienic advantages. This noble metal has antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties.

The health benefits of metals have been known since ancient times, for example in 1200 B.C. the Phoenicians used silver to preserve water. As demonstrated by studies and researches, the silver ion (Ag+) can interrupt the enzymatic metabolic cycle of some microorganisms.

Therefore, setting the table using silver cutlery and accessories is synonymous not only with good taste and refinement, but also and above all with a careful selection of materials that pays attention to the guests' health.

STRICT AND ACCURATE TESTS

Certified quality on silverplating

Each silver-plated product is subjected to strict and accurate tests and inspections before the final packaging.

A special X-ray machine verifies the thickness of the silver deposit without affecting its integrity. Thermal shock tests carried out on samples on each production batch verify the adherence of the coating. The items are brought to high temperatures in special ovens and cooled rapidly by immersion in oil to validate the perfect quality of the result.

Articles are finally polished and evaluated in their uniformity and shine. Once approved, they are vacuum packed in order to preserve them from oxidation.

Sambonet silverplating process

At the heart of Sambonet silver creations lies a meticulous process known as Hard Sambonet Silverplating. Let's go into the details of this process:

Ultrasonic processing

Galvanic silverplating involves an initial ultrasonic degreasing of the pieces, with the aim of removing any type of residue deriving from previous steps and preparing the article for the process. During this phase, the ultrasounds act on the dirt particles with high frequency vibrations that determine their detachment from the piece, acting even inside the most complex decorations.

Removing all impurities

The second and third degreasing, cathodic and anodic type, are necessary for the removal of all impurities from the surface of the piece itself. The surface is thus free of any impurities or interfering agent, and this guarantees the quality of the subsequent silver deposit.

Actual silverplating

At this point, the pieces undergo a first quick silverplating, with the aim of activating the bonding process between the article and silver, and then the actual silverplating treatment can begin. The entire process involves the use of special frames, designed internally with the aim of supporting articles during the silverplating and actively participating in the electroplating process, transmitting electricity to the articles and activating the bonding process between silver and metal surface. One cycle lasts about one hour and the production full capacity is 10,000 cutlery per shift.

Manual silverplating

Manual silverplating is still used for small quantities of cutlery, holloware and the most valuable & complex pieces. Thanks to the operators’ excellence and meticulousness, the pieces are handled with care and processed in order to avoid air bubbles and imperfections. Once this has been completed, a second silver plating is carried out to reinforce the hollow bodies and protect the most handled parts.
