Silver-plated and stainless steel table sets

Almost all Sambonet table sets are available in silver plated or stainless steel.
What is the difference between silver-plated and stainless steel? Silver-plated cutlery is made using an exclusive Sambonet silver-plating process that covers the stainless steel item with a layer of silver to prevent corrosion and add a brilliant shine. The purity of the silver is 999.5% and, with Sambonet's special technique, the silver-plated layer is twice as hard as normal silver-plated pieces and four times more resistant to sulphur.
Both the silver-plated and stainless steel versions are unique and of the highest quality. Which set you prefer depends on your taste and your table. Both can be used for everyday use or for more special occasions.

Maintenance of your table set

To maintain the value and beauty of modern or gourmet cutlery, Sambonet suggests following these tips:

  • To preserve the shine of silver, the product should be cleaned by soaking it in lukewarm water with mild dishwashing detergent. After rinsing and drying, use a silver polishing cream or spray to create an invisible protective layer. This ensures that surfaces remain clean for longer.
  • Do not use chlorine-containing detergents such as bleach (sodium hypochlorite). They can damage stainless steel.
  • Use a soft, clean cloth to clean the surfaces. Avoid vigorous rubbing and abrasive cleaning products.
  • Do not allow spoons, knives or forks to come into contact with hard or abrasive surfaces as they could be scratched.
